Israel Abramofsky was an artist of great skill and humanity. He was perservered through great difficulty in his youth, born poor in Russia and persecuted for his faith. He emerged a talented artist with a sensitive soul and an eye for the noble aspects of people, spirituality, and nature.

OK then - lots of images collected over the last year. Only a few major pieces sold this year but many smaller pieces did sell and i have collected some biographical material as well. I'll be adding these items over the next few weeks.

Heard from Michael in the State of Washington. He found this two sided work at a thrift store. The front side shows a sailboat in oil using his full color palate. Michael states that the back side "looks to be a fragment of a larger painting depicting a ranking military officer, with some hazy figures of soldiers behind him." Very interesting and unique. Good eye and great find - thanks for the images Michael.

Treadway Toomey Gallery in Cincinnati and eBay Live will auction this painting on September 14, 2008. It is oil on canvas village landscape, likely near Breton, France. 26.25" X 32" with some minor damage. Unsure if framed. It was bought by an on-line bidder for $800. The painting is believed to be in northwest Ohio.

Two paintings are currently up on eBay by Classic Antiques in Toledo. Each is 11 X 20, oil on board, of a male religious figure. The tones are muted reds, browns, and ochre. The painting on the left sold for $209 to Lions Gallery auction house; the painting on the right sold for $219 to an on-line bidder from northwest Ohio.
